Local Woman in Coma After Being Run Down by Ex-Lover
Heather Sage, of 549 Church St., was found lying unconscious in her driveway after police responded to a call of an unwanted guest at her residence at 1:44 a.m., according to police reports. She was brought to North Adams Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Pittsfield hospital, where she remains.
"She's in a medically induced coma," a family member, who asked not to be identified, said yesterday afternoon. "She's suffered massive brain injuries. She's bleeding from both sides of her brain. She's also suffered some chest trauma. We've been told that if she makes it, she won't be the same."
Karen Jablonski, 44, of 126 Brooklyn St., pleaded not guilty Monday in Northern Berkshire District Court on charges of assault and battery, aggravated assault and battery, breaking and entering and violating an abuse-prevention order. She was released on $2,500 cash/surety bail. According to family members, Jablonski and Sage were former partners and have had problems over the past few months.
