Did you know you could possibly get a form of wheat allergy if you are allergic to pollens of certain plants? Stay away from the pollens of these plants because exposure to these pollens could cause allergic rhinitis that is seasonal in nature. You could give this read a pass when you consider that Hay Fever impacts individuals allergic to the pollens only during the haying season (May-June). Understand this carefully because some effects of Hay fever may impact these individuals all year around.
What causes Hay Fever?
Pollens from plants that are pollinated by the wind remain the largest culprits causing hay fever. Trees like Birch, Alder, Hazel, Hornbeam, Horse Chestnut, and Olive are considered to be the prime plants responsible for causing hay fever. Olive is one of the biggest contributory factors to causing hay fever in the Mediterranean Region.
Grass pollen is considered to cause hay fever in about 90% of cases in individuals suffering from Hay fever. Interestingly, with 90 out of 100 individuals allergic to grass pollen, not many of them are aware of them being allergic to grass pollen.
I am positive that you would not be aware if you are allergic to grass pollen.
The other hidden cause for hay fever is the demography where you stay. Consider yourself at an increased risk of contracting Hay Fever if the climate in your locality is dry and humid. Pollens thrive in dry and humid climate and potentially impact you versus cool and damp climate.
What are the symptoms of Hay Fever and how is it diagnosed?
Doctors would not be able to diagnose an individual suffering from Hay Fever straightaway due to the distinct resemblance of the symptoms with other illnesses. Some major symptoms include but not limited to coughing, headache, runny nose, sneezing, wheezing, conjunctivitis.
These symptoms are associated with the occurrence of Hay Fever in an individual by allergen test or RAST blood test. These tests help the physicians to diagnose these symptoms due to Hay Fever.
