When I purchased my house, the former home owners had a standing contract with a national exterminator group to prevent bug infestation, but I opted for something a little less expensive. I went to a lawn and garden store and talked to the experts there about what type of insecticides would best guard my home. They recommended Ortho Home Defense Max and I’ll never use anything else. It works, it’s not too expensive, and I can treat my house in minutes.

Ortho Home Defense Max is used indoors or out to kill roaches, fleas, mites, centipedes, flies, ants, mosquitoes , scorpions, silverfish and other home invaders. Spiders were the problem in my own home. Living in North Carolina, where the brown recluse spider is prevalent, I worried about the many spider webs which kept reappearing. I took the webs down but would be shocked to see them back within the month. It seemed I never stopped knocking down spider webs.

I used the Ortho Home Defense Max around my home, starting with the top perimeter of the room, going down each corner, around windows, and finally, around the baseboards. I treated each room then treated the outside perimeter of the house. I paid special attention to the areas under the fridge, stove, and cabinets.

The Ortho came in a gallon size for about $7 and after treating my entire home, I still had over half left for a future treatment. Well, let me tell you that the money was well spent, since I’ve had no problems from spiders since. It’s a rare occasion that I see a spider web now, and it’s been 3 months since I treated my house. The manufacturer recommends that the house be retreated once each season, so a gallon of Ortho goes quite a long ways.

The Ortho bug treatment comes with a sprayer and hose that make it easy to use. Some trigger spray-type bug treatments can become very tedious and you end up with an aching hand, but the Ortho sprayer prevents this.

Centipedes like this one don't stand a chance when you use Ortho around your home.

Hey guy with great fingers, get off your cloud and take in a little reality. Spider infestation can present potentially deadly consequences to a family. Its all too easy to roll over on on one accidentally or put on a shirt with one inside and then get bit, only because the spider was scared. I know because I've been bit just that way, and I live in much less of a spider habit than the author. Hope you don't have to learn the hard way.

RA is not a thing you can just suck up, it is important to be able to spray for the fireants, they could cause health problems especially for those that are allergic to them. I use Orthomax products every year and have had great success unless it rains (heavy)right after I put it out. 35.00 dollars is nothing, I had 185.00 worth of product that I put down this year, just because it didn't work(due to rain) doesnt mean that these products are not good, they must be applied correctly and at the right time. Try them again and apply like the label says and you will have great results.
