I am not a smoker. Never was and never will be. The smell disgusts me. It makes me nauseas. It gives me headaches. It makes you age faster and your teeth yellow. It can cause cancer and other health problems. I do not think it looks cool. I think it is far from cool. Therefore, really, I don't see any reason to smoke, but different things appeal to different people.

We know the dangers of smoking. We know it causes aging and yellow teeth, cancer and heart related problems too. It can lead to death. These dangers are made known to the public; there is even a warning on the box. So, honestly, I have to say either people don't care about their lives or they aren't very smart. I am not trying to insult people by this, but smoking is dangerous to those who smoke and those who are around smokers; it's a fact! Why do it? Yes, it is addicting but you can quit. There are many ways to stop smoking, to quit. There are patches and gum, quitting cold turkey and many other methods. So, there is really no excuse not to do it. You can live longer if you quit.

Dee Banning, are you fucking serious? What you just said is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. Please respect the fact that smoking will KILL you and hurt other innocent people that have to share your public space. I sincerely hope you see the dangers of smoking and QUIT before cancer inevitably destroys your life.

I smoked for 34 years and I live on oxygen now. It almost killed me. I've been smoke free for 3 years, but if I get a cold, I really get sick with COPD. I can't speak for everyone, but to me, being an ex-smoker, I can't stand the smell anymore. It makes me want to throw up. I can smell it on people as they come into a building like a docs office or something... they reek. If they like it, that's all well and good... but I will always choose to move away from them if I can. I guess people have the right to kill themselves if they want to. It's their body. I don't have to be near them. I will gladly give them room.

OK first of all your wrong wrong and wrong again.. I have been a smoker for 20 years now, and my teeth are white as can be, I don't look my age at all (much younger)and I am very healthy. You should worry more about things that are much more important.

I'm a smoker and I enjoy it. What I don't enjoy are my rights being violated by the gvn't. I own a business. I don't smoke in my business but..considering I own it, as well as the building, I'd like the option to do so, or not ,to be placed on my plate not a house full of senators or representatives, with whom, have two smoking rooms located in their House for their convienence. If a party does not wish to be submitted to "second hand smoke" then by golly stay out of the establishments that allow it. On a different note, do you drink? When's the last time you had a beer, a scotch or hey a wine cooler if that's your preference? Did you know drunk drivers have a high third party death rate while they actually survive most accidents they cause? Why should I have to sit next to, or be in range of, the abusive, obnoxious drunk at a restaurant any more than you have to tolerate second hand smoke? Are drunks appealing? Are they any less a danger to you on the road than my second hand smoke i

Boo hoo!! Smoking is something people do and to tell smokers not to smoke indicates a bigoted belief you are superior to them. When people congregate to smoke outside they usually want to be around a doorway because that's where the ashtray is. Solution is to move ashtrays to another area of the commercial entrance. Talk to your restauranteer or building owner.
