I've been waiting a long time to get my eyeballs on the movie Dark Ride, and a few other horror films from the 8 films to die for collection. My local Blockbuster thinks it's okay to carry just one copy of the title; and Dark Ride teased me for nearly a month, as I checked in and waited patiently for a copy to be available.
What Is Dark Ride About?
Two twin girls decide to go on a scary horror ride at a local amusement park, the ride of course is called Dark Ride. The ride is basically like a haunted house, only it carries guest through the horrors on a slow rolling cart.
As a viewer the tension is not high, and I was not surprised when the girls are murdered. It's sort of expected, I saw it coming, and everyone who vies the flick will see it coming.
The murderer known as Jonah, is thrown into a mental facility, and Dark Ride is closed down; for now...
20 years later you are introduced to group of college students planning a trip up to New Orleans, however they get sidetracked as they make different plans to go spend the night in Dark Ride to save some money on hotel fees. On the way they pick up a trash bag female hitchhiker who lets off the whole ' I want to have sex with one of you' vibe.
They smoke some dope, and end up at Dark Ride where they plan on sleeping for the night.
But Oh No! Jonah has escaped the mental facility and found his way back home to Dark Ride. He seems to have inhuman powerful strength, and it reminded me of the same might and power that came from the character 'The Jackal' in Thirteen Ghosts.
Anyhow, it's pretty obvious what is going to happen next, and what else is obvious at this point is who will live, and who will die.
Jonah picks them off one by one, in gruesome ways. The killings are disgusting, and there is one particular slaying scene that will make you gag.
The ending of Dark Ride has a twist that me and my boyfriend seen coming the moment the college kids plopped down and began discussing the history of Dark Ride.
