When the temperatures starts rising in Kansas City, blue skies, sunshine and Kansas City parks beckon local residents and tourists to come and enjoy the great outdoors. During the autumn and winter, too, the parks are a beautiful place to enjoy the change of colors and temperatures. Kansas City has over 200 parks offering playgrounds, swimming pools, lakes, trails, picnic areas and much more for the whole family to enjoy.

Whether it's going fishing, playing Frisbee, walking the dog or taking a long leisurely walk, abundantly green parks can be found throughout the Kansas City area and its surrounding communities.

Take some time out and enjoy a walk through one of Kansas City's scenic parks.

Loose Park - located at 51st and Wornall Road, this park offers 74-acres of rolling hills, a rose garden, wading pool, a duck pond, jogging path, four tennis courts, band shell, picnicking and restrooms. People also get married in this beautiful, scenic park!

Swope Park - Located at Swope Parkway and Meyer Boulevard, this 1,769-acre stretch contains the Kansas City Zoo, Starlight Theater, a swimming pool, two fishing lakes, two golf courses, boating areas, nature center, bicycle paths, playing fields, two tennis courts, picnic tables, shelters and so much more. If you enjoy taking photos, Swope Park has some beautiful rock outcroppings as great backdrops.

Blue River Park - Blue River Park is a 2,319-acre stretch that extends from the south boundary of Swope Park, along the Blue River, south and west to 150th Street and State Line Road. This beautiful extension in nature offers hiking, fishing, canoeing, baseball, softball, and soccer fields; picnicking, radio-controlled flying fields; shelters and restrooms.

Longview Lake - Here you find a 950-acre lake with 4,830-acres total. Located at Raytwon Road and Longview Road, this park offers the Longview Historical site, golf courses, nine-hole par-3 course, boating, camping, fishing, water skiing, football and softball fields, a swimming beach, RV dump station, picnic area, model airplane field and a 6.2-mile bicycle path.
