Should Americans Fund or Finance Education For Illegal Immigrants ?

I'll bet when you first considered this question you immediately thought of college, I know I did. And for me that made it pretty much a no brainer.

Do I want to use my tax dollars to give student loans or grants to Juan or Lupita, so they can can get a degree and earn more money to send across the border, and then when we finally get around to deporting them they can take these skills and degrees with them without ever paying ? NO I DO NOT !

But then I did a little research, and considered the question. Once I did this I was glad that I did because this immigration question becomes as much of a quagmire, as any other immigration question does.

The question doesn't say anything about college. The question just asks if I want to fund or finance the education of Illegal Immigrants.

Well, that puts a little bit of a 'bow in the board' doesn't it? Perhaps it won't be as easy to 'fix this fence' as I thought it would be.

My son goes to public school. It's not the best school, but it's not the worst. It is however, the best we can afford. He is 10. We also have twin daughters who are 19 and attend community college. They both live on their own and work two jobs. They have grants and loans, and are hoping for scholarships, when they go to a State College. Both of them earn great grades and work hard so I'm convinced they will get them. But still my wife and I are an emergency financial aid source.

The point is, we fund public education at every turn. We both pay and have always paid taxes. It seems every day the school board puts up another school levy tax. My son drags home fund-raisers for his school all the time. Free public schools has loads of fees, and the list goes on and on.

My son doesn't get the grades I would have hoped for. The teachers have suggested a tutor and we do home work together. I have been to his school on several occasions and the classrooms are crowded. The teachers and teacher helpers seem to have their hands very full. We pay for his lunch and it doesn't look to me like the food is very good. The thing is, I think his school should be better.

We have the same problem in Britain, it is driving people nuts, me I would do whatever it takes, and I hate to say this, but it is the truth. If something isn't done Britain and the US ae going to turn themselves into third world places, and in my opinion it is taoally stupid! Here is one of my article you might find interesting, please leave a link in the comments on this article as they should be linked. Thanks and take care, Linda http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/560821/why_the_british_mass_exodus_of_emigrating.html

How far are they willing to go to seize the land they feel belongs to them? I am tired of the whole issue. If the government can place a number figure on who is here illegally, they must know who they are. Send them bills for breaking the law. Hefty charges. Most can afford it. Or send a bill to Mexico and perhaps China. It is too sad to see so many born citizens without homes and jobs standing in line at clinics to receive health care often being turned away due to all the illegals in line with them. When Mexico tried to upgrade and improve conditions with airport expansion the people revolted and blocked it. Mexico has a good GPU, I think it is called, so not as poor that they can not afford to take care of their citizens. The whole thing just got out of hand. We really need to come to some sort of compromise and I think their side needs to be a little more considerate of legal immigrants as well as born citizens. It is hard to get spit upon by people you are feeding.

(continuation of last post cut-off) - Therefore, I feel that all deported Mexican illegals be flown by military flights directly to the town of Chetumal ... on Mexico's southern border with the country of Belize. That way, Mexican illegals would have to traverse the entire length of Mexico to reach our borders again ... a task that most of them would never undertake. Finally, we should either "amend" or "re-interpret" the 14th Amendment to the Constitution so that birthright citizenship is only granted to children whose mothers are legal residents. Do all these things and the lion's share of our problems with illegal immigration would vanish. Here's my own article on the illegal immigration debate - http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/544617/immigration_debate_spindoctoring.html

How far would I be willing to go? Pretty darn far, actually. First, I'd require proof of legal residency as a prerequisite to any Federal or state ID card. Secondly, I'd require proof of legal residency as a prerequisite to ALL job applications (including jobs that make daily cash payments). Thirdly, I'd require proof of legal residency as a prerequisite to ALL applications for Federal and state entitlements or programs (welfare, SSI, food stamps, public school enrollments, etc.). I'd also require that all jails and prisons do legal residency checks on all inmates ... and if found to be illegal, are turned over to immigration officials IMMEDIATELY upon release. On deportation itself, our country continues to make the mistake of dropping off illegal Mexican immigrants in some border town ... where re-access to our borders is easy. Therefore, I feel that all deported Mexican illegals be flown by military flights directly to the town of Chetumal ... on Mexico's southern border wi

I am a US citizen and therefore a tax payer. I am married to an immigrant but we choose to go through the system the legal way. The other immigrants have this option also. Instead of beating the system like most of these illegal residents, they should do it the honest way and stop using hard working american citizens money. I feel it's wrong to allow foreigners to come into this country and ruin it by STEALING from the people of this country. As for this article, I PAY for lupita's and lupe's and juan's and whoever else's education and trust me, it's not free. The money comes from somewhere and it's not coming from the illegal immigrants that enter this country , now is it? They don't pay taxes, I do. And if an immigrant and I go into the emergency room in need of treatment, guess who they are going to bill? NOT the ilegal immigrant but the hardworking american citizen who is trying to make a hard honest living. Thats my opinion and if anyone doesn't like it, then go out and work hard

To MasterPro, it is YOUR responsibility as an employer to verify their status, anything less is lazy at best and unethical at worst. And I'd be willing to bet you go out of your way to find illegal immigrants because they cost less to employ. "Burdened", as a business owner, you burdened yourself with being a RESPONSIBLE businessman and running things legally. It is the business owners who hire the illegal immigrants that should be sanctioned FIRST! You are a U.S. citizen, and therefore the responsibility is yours too, not just police and INS!

Way overboard...the first of your three "prongs" is the only one not off base, and if properly addressed, would bring about true reductions.

These children of immigrants suck up resources but forget to tell mommy and daddy it's against the law to get a free ride on uncle Sam. As more childrne of illegals get into hiring positons they will shield other illegals and look the other way about lack of documentation.
