Stylish Clothing for Less

Stylish, yet affordable clothing is available at Karen's Closet. They carry clothing for women, children and babies.

The women's selections are grouped by style of clothing and size. Skirts are together, dresses, pant, shirts, lingerie, formals, even shoes and handbags. The selection of children's clothing is somewhat smaller, but still a nice assortment of sizes and styles.

You can even find used books, movies, jewelry, household accessories, toys and baby furnishings. These items are considerable more limited, but all very nice quality for previously worn and played with.

Prices are very reasonable. I have bought clothing there for as little as $1, when it goes on the final sale rack. Pricing is based on the pieces condition and brand and are very good prices, ranging from around $4 to $12. Items like formal dresses will obviously run more. I have bought Nike brand running shoes for $6 and they looked brand new.

The store is stocked with items that are placed on consignment. Basically, you bring in items of clothing for Karen's to sell and you receive 50% of the price they are sold at.

Items must be gently used only. They should be free of stains, holes, discolored fabric, and broken zippers. They should also not be missing any buttons, belts, or belt loops. Generally you must have washed and ironed the clothing and it should be on hangers when you bring it in.

The staff checks the items for approval before they take them in. Their rather stringent requirements means that you will find only nice clothing here. It is not like visiting a charity store that puts out just anything.

Items are only accepted in the current season for which they will be worn. You won't be finding a ton of sweaters in June, they are only accepted in the Fall and Winter. Clothing is kept for three months, during which the clothes are half-price the third month. Formals are kept for six months and never go half price.

There is always nice clothing to be found at affordable prices, but you can check out the sales racks for super great bargains.
