Auto Screen Recorder is a program that will record your every move on the computer. It records what you do and saves it as a .avi file. You can use Windows Media to play it back. There are hot keys that you can use to start the recording and stop the recording. This program is great for making video tutorials. I'm not sure if it records sound because I don't have a microphone to test it. But overall the program is great. Auto Screen Recorder is a small program and takes up little space on your computer.

Auto Screen Recorder can be downloaded from tucows.com. Go to their website and type in Auto Screen Recorder in the search field. When the search results return, click the link for the recorder. On the next page you will see a description of the program. Click the Download button to begin the download. A window will pop up and ask what do you want to do with the file. Click the Save File button to begin downloading your program.

How do you use Auto Screen Recorder?

When you open your program, the first thing that you will need to do is set it up. By this I mean, set up where you want the video to record and store the .avi file too. So let's go ahead and set that up. At the top of your program you will see two tabs. Click the To tab. You can leave the Video Options on Microsoft. You can let the program automatically name your files or if you want to name them yourself, tick the Ask Me Each Time field. If you do that you will be asked to name the file each time you record something.

The last step to setting your program up is creating a folder to store your videos in. I would create a new folder to store the videos in. Once you have that folder created, click the folder button under the To tab. Locate the new folder that you created, click it, and click the OK button. This is where your videos will be stored.

Takeaways
  • You can use Windows Media to play it back.
  • This program is great for making video tutorials.
