Ever since Kenner Toys, a division of General Mills - yes, the same company that makes Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch - produced the original 3.75-inch action figure of Darth Vader in 1978, the Dark Lord of the Sith has been replicated in subsequent variations. Not only does the black-armored servant of the Emperor look subtly different in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi from his first appearance in 1977's Star Wars, a.k.a. Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope, but Kenner and its successor Hasbro, Inc. also invested in advanced molding and computer-assisted design and manufacturing technologies to improve the figures' detailing, impelled, no doubt, by the knowledge that adult collectors wanted better-looking figures that more closely resembled the characters from George Lucas' Star Wars saga.

Although one would imagine that Vader would only need a few "tweaked" action figures because the Sith lord doesn't update his armor/life support suit, breath mask-and-helmet, and cape much from film to film, Hasbro has produced almost a platoon's (or at least several squads) worth of variations on a theme of Darth Vader.

One of the more interesting versions of Anakin Skywalker's "twisted and evil" alter ego is 1999's Darth Vader with Imperial Interrogation Droid from A New Hope.

Darth Vader:

Inside the Death Star's detention corridor, Darth Vader is intent on snapping Princess Leia's defiance. Accompanied by an Imperial interrogation droid, the Sith Lord enters cell 2187, determined to learn the location of the hidden Rebel base from his royal prisoner. - From the action figure package's product blurb.

Takeaways
  • Kenner, and later Hasbro, released various versions of Vader starting in 1978
  • Some Vader figures come with lightsabers, some don't
  • This Vader figure can "speak" three lines from the 1977 film, Star Wars: A New Hope
Did You Know?
The colors used the most by the Empire (black, white, and red) were deliberately chosen by George Lucas to subliminally reflect the fascist nature of Palpatine's New Order; they were the colors used by Adolf Hitler when he designed the Nazi Party flag.

How about an "Intervention Droid" - it does most of the grunt work when your family or friends need to go to Rehab. Maybe after Britney cleans up her act she can be a prime investor in & a celebrity endorser of THE HOLLYWOOD INTERVENTION DROID!
