What is the Power Tour Electric Guitar? It's not an average toy by any means. Youngsters in their early teen years who are interested in becoming masters on the electric guitar are gravitating to this "toy" in order to learn how to play at a level that is simpler and easier to learn.Learning the guitar (as many musicians will tell you) is no easy feat. There are a number of things to learn about, and many times it can be very frustrating - not only for children. If not already experienced in music, one must learn first about notes, scales, musical symbols in addition to learning the parts of the guitar, placement of hands and the guitar itself and generally become familiar with the instrument. (The electric guitar is no exception to this.)
Placement of fingers on the strings is an skill in itself. The Power Tour Guitar eliminates the problem of having to learn this as well, by creating a fingerboard with touch sensors in place of strings. This, I believe is a positive aspect of the guitar because it allows someone to learn where the placement of the fingers should be (where the notes are) before having to learn about how to deal with the strings, and once the notes and finger placement is learned well, the child could move forward to a more advanced instrument.
Here's something else that simplifies the instrument - lights on the board where the fingers should go, so that someone could follow the lights as a first learning step. This allows the new guitarist to drill the notes over and over at a level that is simpler and less frustrating, allowing for a sense of accomplishment when a song is able to be played.
Twelve classic rock songs are pre-installed on the guitar that will play in two modes: "learning mode" and "band" mode. This allows for children to move into playing on their own once becoming accomplished in learning a song. While in learning mode, songs are played in segments of notes and are repeated back first slowly then more quickly as the child learns more.
