In Game 1 of the World Series the Boston Red Sox destroyed the cooled off, uptight and inexperienced Colorado Rockies. So far in Game 2 of the World Series the Colorado Rockies look a lot better but regardless of what happens in Game 2 the Colorado Rockies still have a chance to make this is series. The Colorado Rockies are going home for games 3, 4, and 5 of the World Series and I expect the Colorado Rockies to be a completely different team for four reasons.
Roster Changes
After the NLCS and ALCS both the Colorado Rockies and the Boston Red Sox made changes to their World Series roster. The Colorado Rockies added Aaron Cook and the Boston Red Sox replaced the injured Tim Wakefield with Jon Lester. Both pitchers will pitch game 4 of the World Series.
The two roster changes make this a much better match up for the Colorado Rockies. Though Aaron Cook has never been in the playoffs he is a lot more experienced than Franklin Morales and as we saw in Game 1, Morales wasn't ready for the playoffs.
The Boston Red Sox roster change for the World Series actually weakens their starting rotation. No offense to John Lester but it's just not that easy to replace a pitcher that has the amount of World Series experience that Wakefield has.
