Finding good rice can be challenging! There are so many flavors and brands available to pick from. Sometimes, what looks like a great product is not. Brand names can fool you. I recently tried two different flavors of rice and compared my results. The brands were Success Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice and Publix Beef Flavored Rice Mix. Here is what I discovered.

Success Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice caught my attention, in the rice war. It seemed to have everything that I needed in a rice dish. The ingredients looked healthy. The price was inexpensive and this rice advertised being done in 10 minutes. There were handy recipes on the back of the box. The box also had a mail in rebate. Success Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice's package was quite an attention grabber. I was not happy that I grabbed this product, after trying it, though.

The best thing about Success Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice is that it is available in boil in the bag. This made the rice easy to prepare. I just had to drop the bag into boiling water for ten minutes and it was done. That was nice. When I tasted this rice, I was shocked. It had no taste. It really was bland. The rice also had this hard and mushy thing going on. Some of it was hard, some soft and mushed all together. I rarely choose a bad product and pride myself on finding a good deal that is pleasing but, Success Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice was not tasty. It was well, yucky. The taste can be best described as bland and that is being kind! I have had plain white rice that was spectacular. This brown rice was almost torture to eat.

On a positive note, Success Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice has no cholesterol, no saturated fat, one hundred and fifty calories with only ten of them being from fat. The price was good but, the quality was poor. I was very let down, since I have tried other Success varieties of flavored and white rice with success. This is not an item that I would recommend. I will be avoiding this item.

  • Rice Wars!
  • Success Natural Whole Grain Brown Rice VS. Publix Beef Flavored Rice Mix!
  • I compared both of these products.

I have never had success with cooking rice, even Success brand! Will have to give it another try; like brown rice. Doubt that I would like Pubix due to the beef flavoring.

It is surprising how store brands and other cheaper products taste better than brand name. Super review!

For the most part, I like the Publix products better than the name brands. Great review.
