I was Stalked on the Internet
On my page I had photographs of myself as well as my children. On occasion, I would put other photographs up of other people in my family as well as places to where I traveled. My website was not unusual in this respect, however using my real name on my page is somewhat of an anomaly. The way I figure it, if you have something to say, have the guts to stand behind it with your name or shut up. I used to work for a newspaper and this motto was drilled into my head on a daily basis. I am one of the rare people who really doesn't care what others think, particularly strangers.
I never had any problems with my blog page until a couple of months ago. That is when I started getting harassed by a stranger who, unlike me, decided to hide his identity behind an avatar and false name. I was not the only person he harassed and he was not the first person to post obnoxious comments on my page, so I ignored him. At first.
But he persisted with the harassment with very explicit and offensive remarks. I visited his page and saw that his blogs were racist, homophobic and hateful towards women. They were filled with obscenities of virtually every nature. I pretty much told him what I thought as well as what I thought of his female "friends" who also participated in his little hate-fest. This brought on a barrage of messages and comments from a group of people who probably had an cumulative IQ score of 60.
