For the past four years moviegoers have expected one thing in theatres around Halloween; a Saw movie. Saw IV is being released this year and with Saw V and VI rumors already being tossed around, Saw looks like it will join the ranks of Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Nightmare On Elm Street as a successful and long-lasting horror franchise.

The thing that makes those horror franchises such a success is the main villain, so how does the Saw villain, Jigsaw, match up to the other ones?

Appearance

Michael Myers (Halloween): Silent killer in a jumpsuit and plain white mask showing no emotion.

Jason (Friday the 13th): Tattered clothes, upgraded from potato sack mask to his trademark hockey mask by the third film.

Freddy Krueger (Nightmare On Elm Street): Burned and scarred face, green and red sweater, and a glove with four blades attached to the fingers, also known as "Freddy's Glove".

Jigsaw (Saw): Jigsaw is in two forms, either a creepy old man in a hood or a creepy tricycle riding doll with a deep voice.

Method of Killing

Michael Myers: Choking, stabbing, grabbing any object he can get his hands on, preferably a knife.

Jason: His weapon is the machete but has been known to use other objects including stones.

Freddy Krueger: Haunts dreams. Various methods in the dream world, particularly likes using his "Freddy Glove" to slice up victims.

Jigsaw: Complicated, detailed-filled death puzzles that will torture victims until they meet their demise, very few people escape.

Most Memorable Kill

Michael Myers: In the first Halloween, Michael kills his victims in a memorable car scene.

Jason: A flaming machete through the chest of an unexpected victim at a cornfield party in Freddy vs. Jason.

Freddy Krueger: In Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Freddy possessed a television and shoved a teenagers head right through the screen.

Jigsaw: The Saw II opening scene was an intense and memorable death trap known as the Jaws of Life where the only way for the victim to escape was by digging a key out of his eye before time was up.

Saw is a kind of ferocious movie, well directed with images of sacrifice and scary. it is very complicated only when concentration is not steady. I love it.
