Jessica's appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show appeared to make her an instant hit with the public. Seinfeld was friendly and seemed down to earth during her television appearance on October 8. Jessica talked about how difficult it becomes to convince children to develop healthy eating habits. Eating vegetables is at the top of the list for convincing kids to eat healthily.
Jessica Seinfeld has three young kids herself. She said her inspiration for the "Deceptively Delicious" cookbook was battling with her own kids about eating vegetables. Jessica started developing recipes aimed at getting children to eat their vegetables.
Jessica's main strategy to get kids to eat more healthy is to puree vegetables that are similar in color to the main dish. Then simply sneak them into the prepared food. A popular favorite of Jessica Seinfeld and her kids is macaroni and cheese with some pureed cauliflower or yellow squash. The best part may be that the kids don't even taste the added vegetables.
The Jessica Seinfeld plagiarism controversy started after the Oprah Winfrey show appearance ended. Websites started comparing Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook "Deceptively Delicious" to another cookbook published earlier this year titled "The Sneaky Chef" by Missy Chase Levine. Compared to the million printed copies of "Deceptively Delicious", "The Sneaky Chef" has 150,000 printed copies, according to USA Today.
"The Sneaky Chef" also deals with ways to sneak vegetables into children's diets. The cookbook by Levine was published first. "The Sneaky Chef" uses the same ways to sneak food into children's diets, and even uses many of the same ingredients.
