Jessica Seinfeld is the perky wife of famous actor Jerry Seinfeld. On October 8, Jessica appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show to promote her Jessica Seinfeld cookbook titled "Deceptively Delicious: Simple Secrets to Get Your Kids Eating Good Food". "Deceptively Delicious" is a cookbook featuring ways to sneak healthy nutrition into children's diets without kids even realizing it. It has already had more than one million copies printed.

Jessica's appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show appeared to make her an instant hit with the public. Seinfeld was friendly and seemed down to earth during her television appearance on October 8. Jessica talked about how difficult it becomes to convince children to develop healthy eating habits. Eating vegetables is at the top of the list for convincing kids to eat healthily.

Jessica Seinfeld has three young kids herself. She said her inspiration for the "Deceptively Delicious" cookbook was battling with her own kids about eating vegetables. Jessica started developing recipes aimed at getting children to eat their vegetables.

Jessica's main strategy to get kids to eat more healthy is to puree vegetables that are similar in color to the main dish. Then simply sneak them into the prepared food. A popular favorite of Jessica Seinfeld and her kids is macaroni and cheese with some pureed cauliflower or yellow squash. The best part may be that the kids don't even taste the added vegetables.

The Jessica Seinfeld plagiarism controversy started after the Oprah Winfrey show appearance ended. Websites started comparing Jessica Seinfeld's cookbook "Deceptively Delicious" to another cookbook published earlier this year titled "The Sneaky Chef" by Missy Chase Levine. Compared to the million printed copies of "Deceptively Delicious", "The Sneaky Chef" has 150,000 printed copies, according to USA Today.

"The Sneaky Chef" also deals with ways to sneak vegetables into children's diets. The cookbook by Levine was published first. "The Sneaky Chef" uses the same ways to sneak food into children's diets, and even uses many of the same ingredients.

Takeaways
  • Jessica Seinfeld, wife of Jerry Seinfeld, has published a cookbook.
  • "Deceptively Delicious" shows ways to sneak vegetables into children's diets.
  • Plagiarism accusations about the Jessica Seinfeld cookbook erupted after appearing on "Oprah".

Is the author's name Lapine or Levine? Seems like it would be obvious when writing this story that you don't even have the most basic facts down.

I actually had read the sneaky chef before seeing her on Oprah and thought, this is that other book I read! Great reporting.

Oh, I hadn't heard that she was writing a cookbook. Interesting and confusing on how things have come about with it though. Hopefully the rumors aren't true!

This sounds kind of like plagiarism to me..sounds like if you are a big celebrity, you get doors opened for you in a big way!!...I have never seen either book..but I did read that "both" even have spashes of ..like gravy..or something to that nature on the pages..would be really bad if Jessica stooped that low!!!...Great Article..

Yeah, it may be coincidence on Jessica Seinfeld's part, but I thought that the publisher and Oprah were the most interesting little tidbits. R.M., I was thinking the same thing about Oprah as I was writing it.

How interesting! It sounds a bit odd, although this is a common problem for most parents, so maybe it's a huge coincidence? Who knows. Great reporting of it though!

I forgot to add that this may be the second time Oprah finds her foot in her mouth for promoting an author.

This is news to me. It sounds rather fishy, to say the least. I enjoyed the article
