Myspace friends influence voting decisions. There are many benefits that come with convincing users to post your Myspace graphics on their page. The additional exposure may help to influence someone else's Myspace friends to support a particular 2008 Presidential Candidate. That is not exclusive to anyone because Hillary Clinton is not the only person that is providing Myspace graphics to help her campaign. Barack Obama has some Myspace graphics on his page as well and Rudy Giuliani provides a few widgets that one can easily place on their page to support his campaign. Fred Thompson has his Law & Order fans and Youtube to help, but can also get votes from Myspace users as well.
Supporting the causes and interests of your Myspace friends is common practice on the social networking website. Therefore, a Myspace graphic that is placed on one user's page could yield votes from his or her 200 friends. The activity could then expand from there as more Myspace friends of the initial Myspace friends jump on the bandwagon of their favorite 2008 Presidential Candidate. Since some of these users may not follow politics and could become interested in voting, chances are that they are going to choose the person that they are most interactive with and who they have continued to support. One simple Myspace graphic or banner is multiplied and leads to even more votes in the upcoming election. This is one of the social benefits of Myspace for 2008 Presidential Candidates.
Myspace may help to attract younger voters.
It is no secret that the age range varies on Myspace. However, there is still a large audience between the ages of 18-35 who use Myspace frequently. Some of them probably do not vote at all. However, constant communication with them could influence them to participate in the upcoming presidential election. That is where this gets fun for the 2008 Presidential Candidates. If you have someone on your team or friends list who cares more about watching online videos and playing around on Myspace, it is much easier to get them to vote in the upcoming election.
