Dogs like a warm comfortable bed just like anyone else, and you can provide your dog with the perfect bed - if you know what to look for when choosing a bed for your dog. A number of websites and pet stores offer a variety of beds especially for dogs, but they certainly aren't all the same. Dog beds come in many different sizes and styles, and they're designed using a wide variety of materials. The following information will help you choose just the right bed for your four-legged family member.

Colors and Styles

Dog beds come in many different colors and patterns, and if your dog's bed is going to be in a prominent place in your home, it's important to choose a bed that coordinates well with your furniture and décor. When searching online or in retail pet stores you'll find plaid fabrics, unique patterns, and eye-catching solid colors. Choose a neutral color if you don't think you'll locate a perfect match for your existing upholstery. A solid color is also a great idea since it won't have to match existing furniture to look good in your home. A dog bed a few shades lighter, or preferably darker than your upholstery, will match quite well and won't look at all out of place.

Materials and Fillings

The materials used to make dog beds are more important than any other consideration when shopping for the perfect bed. Cheap materials, or fabrics that aren't easily cleaned don't make a good bed for any pet, especially a dog. Pay careful attention to washing instructions as the materials used in construction. Contrary to popular belief, many dog beds are machine washable, and many of those that can't be washed come with machine washable covers. You'll find faux sheepskin, durable poly/cotton twill, soft Microfibre suede, polysilk, genuine lambs wool, poly/velour, polyester jacquard, and much more. Don't buy a dog bed that can't be washed. In no time at all the bed will require cleaning, and you'll want something that is easy to clean and durable.

Very interesting. My doggy is geting old and she likes to sleep on the settee with a nice clean blanket and some of my clothes, lol or of course on my bed along side me, spoilt, no, I just love her to bits, and it doesn't matter which dog bed I get her, and she has had many, she likes nothing better than being cuddled up to me,lol
