There is almost no where on earth that you can move that will not have some sort of history. Whether it be brothels, saloons, barber shops, or whatever there is always something interesting about it all. You hear the stories, but you pay no attention. You go on about your business and don't give it a second thought. Then one day it all changes.

One day while I was waiting for our friends Mother to pick me up (we were working together at the time), I stood in my kitchen listening to the radio and drinking a cup of coffee. It was very cold outside at the time, far too cold for the door to be opened, and I didn't want to let my cat out. So I opened up the blinds, jammed my tunes and waited. I was a happy girl, things seemed to be going very well. When she arrived I did what I always do, I turn off the radio, grab my bag and coat, open and lock the door(so it will be locked when I close it), and close the blinds on the door so no one can peek inside while we are away. Just as I turn I typically will turn off the lights, then close the door securely before walking down the driveway to meet her. Today I ran. Just as I had turned to turn off the light something caught my eye. Man I wish I had never seen it. There was a man, probably around 30, but he looked like he came from the 50's. You know he had that Fonzie thing going for him, the bottom of his pant legs were rolled up, he had sneakers, and a basic white shirt with what appeared to be a pack of cigarettes rolled into the sleeve. Another thing I noticed as I stared into his eyes. They appeared empty, almost cold and black. I was startled, I couldn't speak or even scream. I quickly turned off the light, slammed the door as hard as I could and I booked it down the driveway. I don't remember ever moving that fast, all the while looking over my shoulder. I don't know if I thought I would catch him chasing me or if I just wanted to make sure he wasn't looking out the blinds at me. All I knew is I wanted out of there and quick.
It was only when I got to the car and shut the door that I again felt safe. It was the strangest feeling, almost like going down the first big drop off a roller coaster, but with knots in my stomach.

I work in a hospital that's rumoured to be haunted. One of my colleagues told me she was going down to a patient room in the middle of the night when she saw a man walk through the door ahead of her. (This was 3 a.m.; it's unlikely he was a visitor since the patients in that room were not palliative.) When she got down to the room, the door was CLOSED. She told me that other staff have reported being in that room and hearing a noise. When they look up into the mirror, they see the reflection of a man standing behind them-but when they turn around, he's gone.
