Ten Tips to Staying in Shape During the Holiday Season
The holiday season can be a joyous part of the year but it can also weigh heavy on our belt loops. The holiday season last approximately four months depending on your family and traditions, this only leaves eight months that aren't surrounded by food. During the holidays, it can be hard
to keep track of our diets and to get the proper food that we need. Depending on the diet that you are one, you will be able to stay away from certain foods if you follow this guideline to staying in shape during the holiday season. These tips not only work great during the holidays but will also help you at future gatherings like birthday parties.
Tip #1:
Being more realistic when it comes to dieting around the holidays, it may be easier for you to maintain your weight than it would for you to try to lose it. If you must lose weight, lower your standards a little bit around this time of the year. Maintaining your weight will help you to keep yourself in shape while still enjoying the holidays and you will be able to get back to your diet after the holidays.
Tip #2
Eat in moderation instead of overindulging on those delicious pies that your grandmother makes every year. If you eat until you are full and then throw your plate away right after, you will be less likely to keep eating. Humans have a tendency of eating what is in front of them, get rid of the plate and save you some future waste problems.
Tip #3
When you are done eating, leave the room where the food is at. Most people will nit pick at food if it is within reach. If you are eating in the kitchen, leave the kitchen once you are done. This will help to avoid temptations of eating more than what you really should.
Tip #4
Eating salad will help to fill you up so you're not tempted to eat food that is high in fat or calories. When you eat the salad, go for a dressing that has low-fat or low-calories in it. Another tip that you can do is to eat before you go to the holiday get together. When you eat at your own home, you will be less likely to indulge in a lot of the foods that are at the gathering.
