How to Prevent Writers Block
So you want to write, but you have no idea what to write about. Below you will find ways to prevent writers block.
First and far most you have to keep an open mind, there are so many things to write about if you just look around and keep your mind open for the juices to flow.
Go ahead, do it right now, just look away from your computer for a minute. What do you see? Are you sitting outside? Are there birds flying around or maybe an ant working hard at carrying a piece of food twice it's size...? What ever it might be these are all things you could write about. You may say but how is that possible? Well let me tell you, "Different things we see and do are all topics that can be put into our writing."
Another way to help stop writers block is to just write, that's right just open your note book and write what ever comes to mind, letting your thoughts flow out of your mind and through your pen onto the paper. Don't try to control it just write. If while you are writing your thoughts go to something completely different don't stop it just write your thoughts as they come no matter what they are. This is a good exercise to do on a daily basis for about ten minutes. Then when your notebook is full just go back and read it from the front to back and highlight the interesting things you have written. Now re-read the highlighted sections, and you will find that you do have things that you can write about.
Also, as a writer you should carry a small notebook that will fit in your pocket or purse, carry this with you along with a pen when you go out and about. For instance, if you go to a restaurant take the note book out and write, describe your surroundings, the things you smell, and you can even write down something you over hear from another customer. As one day this could play out as a setting in a story your writing.
