The month of October was filled with fascinating events. And then this stuff happened:

In a surprise move, a family court judge awarded custody of Britney Spear's two children to Elian Gonzalez's Cuban father. Experts stated that the ruling against Britney may have been caused by her choice of character witnesses which included Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton and the choreographer of that MTV Music award show number.

Also in the music industry, a new album by Mick Jagger was released. "The Very Best of Mick Jagger" is a collection of all of his hits without the Rolling Stones. The disc will be blank.

In entertainment news, the Writers Guild of America is asking its members to vote on a strike authorization. Their contract expires on November 1^st and it would be bad for writers to strike because they are the backbone of this nation....hey, wait a second, who wrote that?

Actor Kiefer Sutherland was sentenced to a 48-day jail term for drunk driving which will be featured in a special "24" and "Prison Break" cross-over episode.

Up to 40 doctors and hospital workers were suspended for leaking George Clooney's medical records after his motorcycle accident, violating patient privacy laws. Information included charts, test results and several autographed X-rays.

Elsewhere in the world, South Korea's president met with North Korea leader, Kim Jong Il, where the two countries pledged to pursue a peace treaty and end their decades-long standoff. Spokesman for the summit, Alan Alda, said, "Well thank goodness that's over with."
