According to a recently published State of Maine official government web site press release, Maine Emergency Management Agency, along with Maine Governor John E. Baldacci, are reminding Maine residents and people all across the United States that the best way to help with the California wildfire disasters is by supporting a relief program or organization in their area. There are numerous ways to help, including donation of money, clothing, and other needed items.

The Governor announced that many Maine citizens have been calling into his office in Augusta, asking about ways that they can help the people of southern California recover from their loses.

Governor Baldacci proudly said about these calls, "Whenever there is a disaster, Mainers step forward to help."

Maine Emergency Management Agency, also known as MEMA, is one way that help is getting across the country from Maine to California.

MEMA's Director, Rob McAleer said, "The best way to help right now is with monetary donations to a relief agency working in the disaster area."

You don't have to live in Maine to help the people of southern California either. The State of California has officially established its own Donations Hotline at 1-800-750-2858.

Additionally, several other agencies and organizations, including local units, through the Network for Good (http://www.networkforgood.org) and the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (http://www.nvoad.org).

All local organizations and charity chapters through Maine, California, and the rest of the United States will be accepting money donations that will directly go to help people either recover or rebuild. However, to find a local charity or help organization in Maine, visit volunteermaine.org. Here you can volunteer to help with disaster relief and even receiving training as a volunteer. Anyone is welcome to participate in helping others.

It's too late for me to read, but I really want to help you. I'm sure I'll come and actually read some of your articles later! Like I said, I know what it is like, and it is definitely not fun.
