If it seemed that the National League now owned the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which it took over in the Sixties, it is because they did. Again, just like the decade that had passed, the AL would win but one Major League Baseball All-Star Game during this ten year period. They would lose the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in every conceivable manner; the first one of the Seventies on an infamous home plate collision, the last one would feature a pair of remarkable throws. The only Major League Baseball All-Star game the American League would emerge victorious from was one in which the public became of aware of Mr. October, ironically in the month of July.

Nice read. I think the World Series home field advantage stakes have been a great boost to the game. It affects most of the players because even if they aren't in contention, the could well be traded at the deadline. Torii Hunter is the prime example. Winning or losing the All-Star Game can make the difference between winning or losing the series.

Professional sports haven't been the same since the mega-million dollar salaries began. What a shame!

back then it was a pride thing to win the all-star game. Now its just a circus show, even though the hfa helps but not much.

Rose was one of the greatest players of all time, but I don't think he deserves to be in the Hall.

I remember some of these guys. We had Rod Carew and Reggie Jackson back in those days. Angels fan here. Anaheim not L.A. Nice read.

Rose ruled. Put him in the Hall.
