An Automotive Technician Previews the 2008 Chevy Malibu
Advertisements about the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu have been everywhere recently. As a professional automotive technician, I have come across a wide variety of cars in my days. Since I work at a Chevrolet dealership, I've had the opportunity of seeing all the new models and their features. The Malibu is a popular midsize sedan, but it has had some serious problems in the past. Lower intake manifold gaskets always loved to leak on the V6 engines, but the 2008 model has a new and improved V6 engine. The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu provides a good driving experience, handles well in turns and offers a smooth ride. Interior noise is also kept to a minimum. Simply put, you can't go wrong with this car.
When test driving the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, you will notice that the V6 engine has plenty of power. The 252 horsepower out of the 3.6-liter V6 provides plenty of acceleration. However, the Ecotec four-cylinder models produce decent acceleration as well and get better gas mileage. If you don't think you need the extra power, consider the Ecotec models. It is a very well-designed engine, and I think it is one of the best GM has out there at the moment. There is also supposed to be a hybrid version of the Ecotec coming out, but I haven't had any experience with that. The number of those will most likely be limited to a smaller quantity. The 2008 Malibu also comes with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
I like the new interior that Chevrolet integrated into the Malibu for the 2008 model year. It is more sophisticated and streamlined than the previous models.
Overall, my experience driving the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu was pretty good. The Malibu is a slightly cheaper option in the midsize class, and they have improved upon the previous build. I would definitely recommend this vehicle to anyone shopping for a midsize sedan.
