While the Catholic Church has long denied knowing about Rev. Donald McGuire's pedophilia, new documents being made public on Monday indicate that at least ten separate church officials were aware of McGuire's transgressions. These documents, detailed in a press release by Jeff Anderson & Associates, could be a deciding factor on the civil suit against the Catholic Church.

The proof that three separate Catholic institutions and ten church officials were aware of McGuire's abuse is contained in over 30 pages of secret Jesuit documents according to the press release. These documents are being made public by the attorneys for the victims of McGuire as part of the civil lawsuit process.

The letters documented complaints of multiple families about McGuire during his time as a priest and span over fifty years. In the letters, families accuse McGuire of having inappropriate contact with their boys. The accusations included showing pornography, sharing a bed with young boys, and suspected sexual abuse.

According to the press release, these documents seem to prove that the Catholic church was aware the priest's pedophilia and history of being an abuser but did nothing to protect the abused or the rest of the congregation.

The Catholic Church did not report any incidents of abuse to law enforcement or attempt to discipline McGuire in any way. McGuire was sent to posts all over the world and molested many boys over the course of the next half century. He was only arrested and convicted in 2006.

In one incident detailed in the released documents, McGuire was transferred from his position at Loyola Academy in 1970 because of evidence that he abused a student. Further notifications of McGuire abusing boys were made by families in 1993, 1994, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.

One family was particularly persistent in notifying the Catholic authorities according to the press release. They repeatedly called and wrote Catholic authorities about the priest's actions, but were ignored in the years 2001-2003. Instead, an official finally wrote them asking for trust, but did not offer to investigate their claims against McGuire.

This is not a news article. It's a propoganda piece to discredit any opposition. The article was written by Jeff Anderson & Associates - THAT'S ALL OF THE "victims" ATTORNEY. Jeff is a crook and is fleecing the Catholic church. It's the perfect scam. No witnesses, too many years have happened to provide adequate evidence. All of the priests are either already dead or their witnesses are. It's about time one of these innocent priests stands up for themselves and doesn't settle out of court which seems to be the status quo for the Catholic church.

My wife is a Third Order Carmelite (religious name: Michael Therese of the Child Jesus) who attended a McGuire retreat sponsored by her Carmelite group. (It was open to all Chicago-area Third Order Carmelites, however.) She dragged herself kicking and screaming to the retreat, and it took her a while to feel comfortable with McGuire. Also, it seemed to my wife that his handlers kept too close an eye on him; they strictly limited the amount of time he spent in the confessional with each retreatant (above and beyond the natural time constraints inherent in any human activity), and when she tried to talk to him at the end of the retreat when he was in his car ready to leave for his home, it was the handlers - not Fr. McGuire himself - who gave her the bum's rush. They seemed overly eager to get rid of her and get him home.

When I was raped in 1970 as a Deacon I reported to my (priest) supervisor -- nothing happened. Five months later I told the seminary there was a "problem in the rectory." Nothing happened. Thirty-one years later when I had my flashback I told my story to Cardinal Law. My biggest fear was in not stopping him in 1970 that he went on to hurt others. I was assured there were no other reports. A year later I got hold of the investigation -- in his folder there were three letters written by at least two people complaining of abuse. In 2005 I agreed to be a witness in a court action against my abuser -- he had raped a young boy twice in the week before his first communion in 1991. In 2006 this priest was arrested again for abusing a 40 year old mentally retarded men (neighbor) -- the priest was 81 yiears old! THEY NEVER STOP! When will the "leaders of the church" get the message?
