Health Care in the United States is a really horrible joke. In this country you can find some of the best doctors the world has to offer, and the technology available is impressive. However the quality of health care in general is embarrassingly terrible.

First of all Health Insurance is very expensive. Millions of Americans do not have insurance. As we all know, without insurance your medical care is going to be very costly. In my area it will cost you one hundred and fifty dollars, in cash, for an office visit without insurance. Why is it so expensive to be healthy in America when so many other countries are providing free health care?

Also, as an uninsured American I notice changes in the quality of care. I have recently received treatment from a dentist, and the emergency room at my local hospital. When I was insured my dentist would provide me with " laughing gas" and prescription pain pills. When my insurance was no longer valid, the pain relief stopped. Isn't that odd? I pay in cash, but my dentist is less friendly, and he is not gentle anymore.

While at the local emergency room, I waited for over six hours, I have broken bones, and I was advised to take tylenol, If I had insurance, I would have been treated faster, and I am certain I would have been prescribed medication for relief of my pain.

This is an issue because so many Americans have no alternative for health care aside from the emergency room, orurgent care facility. Should they be treated less efficiently because they will be paying for their care, instead of an insurance company covering the bill? Most pharmacies have stepped up by offering generic prescriptions for four dollars, or in some cases free. When will health care facilities start doing something to change the problem? As a nation how much longer will we accept this disaster as our health care situation?
