Should a landlord be allowed to evict because you are an adult film star? Nick Manning is an adult film star and he doesn't think so. Nick Manning had only opened his lingerie store, LA Exotique, for three weeks before he was already facing eviction even though his rent was paid in full to the tune of $90,000.00. In his appearance on the Howard Stern show on Thursday, October 25, Manning stated that he is being discriminated against and censored due to the fact that he is an adult film star. His store isn't an adult novelty store; it is only a lingerie shop with very few adult items. The apparent issue isn't with the merchandise he stocks; it is with the owners of the store being headliners for adult videos.

According to Tony Bateman, "The store in Encino, at the cross street of Ventura and Louise is owned by Nick Manning and adult stars Michelle McLaren, Rachel Roxxx, Sarah Jesse, Mikey Butders, and Justin Syder. Dean Sussman, Manning's longtime adult distribution partner is also an owner and the Managing Director of LA Exotique." According to the laws of the State of California: "Under California law, it is unlawful for a landlord, managing agent, real estate broker, or salesperson to discriminate against a person or harass a person because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth or medical conditions related to them, as well as gender and perception of gender), sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, familial status, source of income, or disability "(Government Code Sections 12926(p), 12927(e), 12955(a),(d). See Fair Employment and Housing Act, Government Code Section 12900 and following; federal Fair Housing Act, 42 United States Code Section 3601 and following.)
