For this craft, you will need some paper, crayons, markers, glue, scissors and some hay. This works as a Thanksgiving decoration. You can also hang it up around Halloween time as well. This is fun to do with children and it's fun it do by yourself as well. The first thing that you will want to do is create a template to trace. The first thing you will need to draw out is the basic outline of the scarecrow. Draw a simple figure shape such as the head, arms, body and legs. You will want everybody to trace this basic outline on a piece of paper.

Then you will want to draw in some extra items to place on the scarecrow. You will want to draw out a hat that you can place on the scarecrow. You will want to draw a shirt and pants to fit on the scarecrow as well. You can make the pants blue-jean pants and color in the shirt to make it look like a plaid shirt. You will also want to draw out some boots for the scarecrow as well. Then you will want to draw out a pitchfork. You can add as many different items to the scarecrow that you want to add.

Once you have a good number of items drawn out on paper, you will want to cut all the items out and pass them on to everybody else. Everybody else will trace the items and then you can pass the scissors around for them to cut out all of the shapes. Once everybody has all of the shapes cut out you can then start to color all of the pieces of clothing. You can also draw a face on your scarecrow. You can add a number of things to the scarecrow and then you can glue all of the pieces on top of the scarecrow.

You can also add glitter to the scarecrow if you would like to. You can use a hole puncher to punch a hole in the scarecrow so that you can hang it up if you would like to. Simply tie a piece of string to the scarecrow and he can hang from the wall in your home. If you are doing this craft with a lot of different people, you will want to make sure that everybody writes their names on the back of the scarecrows. These are really fun to do and you can add a lot of different things to each one.
