Come on - You Know You Want to Edit, Too!

If you've ever written a review, story or article for Associated Content (AC), then you, too, know they pain and suffering of not being able to edit your work after the fact. Once they publish it, editing is not possible.

Like most people, I try really hard to keep my typos to a minimum. I re-read my work a couple of times and then run it through a spell check before I publish. Sometimes, even the most vigilant eye will miss something.

What about poor sentence structure? What about when you miss a word? What about when you change a sentence, but leave an extra word that doesn't belong? What about when you accidentally type the same word twice? What about a grammatical error that the spell check did not pick up? Like using 'to' when you should have used 'too', or something like that? SO - what about it, huh, huh?

I say that we all jump on the bandwagon right here, right now and we complain! Come on - how many other people also feel this way? Sign in, sound off and when we have a ton of people here, proving that I am not alone, then I will turn this into the powers-that-be here at AC and we will see if the voices of many can make a difference.

I sure hope so!

Thanks for Reading,

MZ

I totally agree. I have to admit I do make typo's regardless of proofreading

Hi, I agree with you, thanks for bring this issue out. I would love to edit my articles that are for upfront pay...

Read some of the comments here, Jon. Not everyone publishes upfront for cash payment, so your logic does not apply to every situation. Others were able to point out their opinions, which were the same as yours, by the way, without getting nasty about it, or logging out first. Perhaps next time you can show the same courtesy when you choose to disagree with me? :) Thanks, MZ

This is a strange position. Think this site doesn't publish your work right away but lets you have a few days to revise and edit your essays after you submit them. My friends here have been complaining of having to wait up to a week before their articles get published (and they can edit the essay up until they 'accept' AC's payment offer). Why can't you proof-read your work and make the necessary edit while they are in 'pending' status? High school students don't get to edit their homework once they've turned it in either.

Good point about the upfront pay situation, Dave. Thanks for your comments. It's great to see you here! :) MZ

And one other comment. My scenario below doesn't take into consideration content that has NOT been paid for up front by AC. They should at least allow editing of that! Dave

Hey MZ. I agree with you. I would like to be able to change my content as well. I THINK I see their side of it though. Unlike Epinions where just about anything gets published and you get paid later on hits to the review, on AC you can get paid upfront but they have to review the content and then decide IF they want to pay you and how much. If they allow us to edit content AC paid for up front for then potentially we could substantially change the content to where it could be something AC would NOT have initially paid for. That's just speculation.

Yeah - that's very strange, Cathie. I wonder what gives? It's obviously incredibly frustrating. Thanks for putting in your vote for editing rights! MZ

Yeah..I noticed that a couple of my articles..had no errors when I wrote them..but then when it was printed..well..some of the words were misspelled and some punctuations not there.made me mad..but there was no way that I could even fix it..makes me look bad...and I didn't even do it!!..now there might have been some that I did do..but these I did not!!..Great Article..I'm with you 100%

Yeah, that would be really annoying! Thanks for your support, Wes! :) MZ

It would be a great feature...is really annoying when they change a title or add a subtitle and it has typos in it..ha ha...I have some examples of that in my work

Yeah, I'm not sure - that may be why, Melissa, but even when I publish things as non-exclusive for no upfront payment, they still won't let me edit. At any rate, I appreciate your show of support! :) Pass this suckah on to yo friends! LOL! MZ

I soooo wish that we could edit. Sometimes I miss something and it look like this.. then I realize I missed the s in looks. Grrr! lol. I wish, I wish. I think they won't allow it because they pay for it as is. But I do think we should be able to edit non payment pieces!

I know what you mean about the CMs editing things without rhyme or reason, Autumn. I've had that happen to me a couple of times (although it wasn't a title that was changed), which does bother me immensely, but it would bother me even more if there was a typo in the new sentence. I have a friend here that has had 'magical sentence changes' that left us both wondering what was going on. I really like this site, but these editing issues are rather negative aspects, in my humble opinion. Thank you for your insight and support! MZ
