Before you got a dog, you may not have been aware of all the extra things you would have to (or would want to) buy. There are certain accessories your dog must have according to the law. There are also certain accessories you want to get for them because you're into fashion or you just want them to look cool. Regardless of whether you need certain accessories or just want them, it is important to research your options.

You probably already have the basic essentials for your dog. If not, you'll definitely want to get these. First of all, you need to get dog bowls for both food and water. These range in price from the cheap to the very expensive.

If you're truly broke, you can always use large bowls that you already have. Honestly, your dog won't notice if their name is engraved in gold on their dog bowl or not. One thing you will want to make sure of is that the bowl does not fall apart, and cannot be easily scooted across the floor by your dog.

Another fairly obvious essential is a dog leash and collar. When you choose a collar you'll have to make sure it will fit around your dog's neck. Any a leash you chose must withstand the dog's height and weight. One handy type of leash allow you to adjust how far you'll allow your dog to go by holding in and releasing a button.

The collar around your dog's neck needs to have some kind of ID tag in case they get lost. This should say their name and your phone number and address. Imagine if your dog went wandering around without a collar! There wouldn't be a way for anyone to get them back to you unless the dog knows their way home.

Another accessory you'll need is a pooper-scooper and little doggy poop sized trash bags. There is nothing worse than walking around a city, yard, or sidewalk and stepping into dog poop. Remember to be courteous to others and always pick up after your dog.

Takeaways
  • You MUST have a dog collar with and ID tag.
  • Dogs love to have doggy toys.
  • There are many great doggy inventions like self refillable food dishes.
