Holidays are such an important part of each countries tradition along with supporting its culture. Some of the most popular holidays on earth either revolve around the Christian belief such as Easter and Christmas however there are other popular ones such as Independence Day, New Year Day, and Valentines and so on. Then there are strange and weird holidays that really have no meaning besides the mere purpose to have an excuse to celebrate something. Have you ever wondered what is going on around the world today? Today marks the 303rd day of the year!
Here is what is going on today around the world:
1. United States:
*National Candy Corn Day: Candy Corn is a national fall candy treat that was first created by George Renninger in the 1880's. It was first manufactured by the Wunderle Candy Company and then reinforced into mass production by the Goelitz Candy Company. Today is the day to have some calorie free fun while eating your candy corn snack.
* Mischief Night (Otherwise known as Devil's Night): Although I do not endorse going out and getting into some mischief, it is a holiday that has been recognized by calendars and other commercial resources. It has been formally known as the night to go out an egg someone's house, toilet paper trees, throw rotten tomatoes and so on. It is the night that many homeowners dread but rebels love.
*Create a Great Funeral Day: To me this "holiday" seems a little morbid and must have been setup by funeral home, mortuary or cremation director that wanted to cash in on the Halloween holiday. Supposedly today is the day to plan your funeral, whether it be setting up a will, purchasing a casket, planning your funeral ceremony and so on. Or if you want to just have some fun, place a few tomb stones in your front yard for Halloween and call it a day.
