In the thriving College Place corridor of downtown Norfolk, d'Art Center at Selden Arcade, 208 East Main Street, began the renovation of the neighborhood in 1986--its grand opening year. The vision of the center was to provide a place where art, artists, and the public came together to learn, develop, appreciate, and buy art from working artists. With 27 bold and daring artists, d'Art Center was at first funded by the city and local businesses. However, the center is now self-sustaining through revenues generated from studio rentals and art events throughout the year. One of the highlight events is the annual holiday art festival that begins this year on November 17th and lasts until December 31st. The d'Art Holiday Gift Center opens in Decker Gallery with hours Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 5 and on Sunday from 1 to 5. The decorations and gifts for this season range from paintings to handmade ornaments. Original works of art as decorations and gifts--what a deal!
