Pastor David Joseph of El Cajon, California takes a hard line on Islam in his book. "Islam says Jesus is not the Son of God, is not God, and was not crucified. It's also a spirit of depression, control, and violence," he said. Other statements by Joseph are likely to cause some ire in today's politically correct climate. "Christians will help prepare the highway in the Middle East for the return of the Lord Jesus by praying against this demonic spirit, and by helping to remove the stones of misunderstandings that keep Muslims from knowing who Jesus is."
Joseph, who was elected president of the Middle Eastern Evangelical Churches Fellowship of America (MEFCA) in 2006, has a vision for Christians in relation to Islam. He has based his mission in part on a verse (Isaiah 19) of the Old Testament Bible and endeavors to "prepare the highway of the Lord", as the verse states, between the countries of Egypt, Israel and Assyria, by "exposing the spirit of Islam". Joseph is indeed on a mission from God as he is calling for Christians to pray for Muslims in order to "win them to Christ".
Let My People Go So They Can Worship Me has the elements of a classic adventure story, including bad guys and a narrow escape. The Egyptian-born Joseph, who is now a U.S. citizen, shares how he founded a youth ministry in Egypt in 1981. He details how he was harassed by Egyptian law enforcement while serving as a pastor in that country. Joseph claims that in 1991 God led him to the United States. When he made it to the U.S., Joseph founded his international ministry to reach Muslims for Christ.
