As I wrote about in the article, Why Freelance Writers May Be the Poorest Internet Entrepreneurs, one of the reasons I think freelance writers don't earn as much as they could is because, as a whole, I don't think we embrace technology to the fullest.

Unless we write about technology, we tend not to be technologically savvy, in my humble opinion. And, this costs us big.

I recently spent a solid week, 10-12 hours a day, researching how to make more money online. And, one of the overriding things I found is that those who appear to be making really good money online are technologically savvy.

How do I know?

Via their blog posts and the strategies they use to make money.

Take, for instance, improving your blog's rank on Technorati, which is the #1 site for tracking blogs (FYI, it tracks over 110 million blogs).

Stuart over at EarnersBlog.com detailed how he improved his rank by 35,000 positions in just one day. And no, that's not a typo. So, how did he do it? He explains, "I used Xenu to fully spider & grab all the URL's from sites I knew had a Sitewide link to Earners Blog. I loaded all the URL's into a text file & got rid of any externals. I then loaded the full list into the pinging tool that comes with Blogger Generator, fire the technorati ping server into it: http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping. Then just let it run on the entire list."

Knowing what pings, externals, and spidering is is critical to making real money online. Why? Because it's what makes the internet work.

It's like knowing how the motor interacts with other parts of your car so that it runs smoothly.
