Crested Butte Ski Resort is a Colorado treasure that is located about 230 miles south west of the city of Denver. It has a peak elevation of 12,162 feet, a base elevation of 9,375 feet, a vertical drop of 2,775 feet, 12 lifts and 1,167 acres of skiable terrain. When visiting make sure that you don't miss the longest run which coasts for 2.6 miles and traverses from "Peak" to "Treasure."

Expert Level Runs

If you are an expert skier then you will have a limited number of runs to choose from. Only about 20 percent of trails offered by Crested Butte Ski Resort are rated at an expert level. However, the runs that are offered are high, fast and challenging. Some of the runs that you will want to try out include: "Upper Peel," "Peak," "Upper Forest," "Peel" and "Hard Slab."

Intermediate Level Runs

Intermediate level skiers are going to find that they have the most trails to choose from. 57 percent of the runs at Crested Butte Ski Resort are rated as intermediate. Some of the intermediate runs that you can try out include: "Paradise Bowl," "Ruby Chief," "Buckley," "Columbine Hill" and "Gus Way."

Beginners

While 77 percent of the runs at Crested Butte Ski Resort are for intermediate and above level skiers, there is still a great selection of ski runs that are designed with beginners in mind. Some of the runs that are appropriate for beginners include: "Peanut," "Roller Coaster," "Aspen Park Road" and "Yellow Brick Road."

Kids

Kids are going to love Crested Butte Ski Resort. If you are planning a child's birthday party or kid friendly activities, then try to plan some time to spend on the tubing hill. Located next to the Red Lady Express, this nighttime play zone opens after the lifts have shut down for the night. It is even lit to make night tubing possible.

If your kids loving skiing, but are not ready for the adult slopes then you will want to take them to the Kid's Park. Here you will find kid friendly beginners and intermediate level runs. Beginner runs include: "Upper Bambino Glades," "Bubba's Trail" and "Elf's Haven" and intermediate level runs in this park include: "Upper Gold Digger," "Upper Fawn's Run" and "Grouse's Way."
