Have you ever had an idea that you wanted to patent but never thought it would be popular enough to sell? Then one day you see that product selling like hotcakes and you think “Man, I wish I would’ve patented that thing when I had the chance, I’d be a millionaire right now!” Well, I had an idea and it dates back about 20 years, and right now it’s one of the hottest summer accessories out there. The jean purse is hot right now, so hot that I see one almost everywhere I go. They look like the back of a pair of jeans, with pockets and all. When I was 7, I used to make these beautiful purses myself. They’re easy to make, and they’re very durable. In this article I’m going to show you how you and your children can make one of the trendiest purses on the market, all without even picking up a sewing needle.

First, start off with an old pair of jeans. I know you have some, everyone does. I personally have about 15 old pairs of jeans in my closet that either don’t fit or are out of style. For little girl’s purses you can use an old pair of jeans that they’ve outgrown. This makes for a very cute pint-size purse. Take the old pair of jeans, cut the legs off and save the fabric for when you make the straps. Fold a very small part of the bottom of the jeans in and repeat on the other side. Next, put Tacky Glue on these two folds and press them together, sealing the bottom of the jean purse. If you really want to sew the purse, you can turn it inside out when the Tacky Glue dries and sew the two folds together. I find that using just Tacky Glue works fine, as I’ve never had a problem with my jean purse coming apart. Next, if you want your purse to have a strap, take the material from the legs and cut a piece off about twice the size that you want your strap to be. Put Tacky Glue on the inside of the strap and fold the edges in to where they meet in the middle. Press down hard so the Tacky Glue sticks. Now you put the end of the strap about an inch down on the inside of the purse and Tacky Glue it down. Do the same for the other side and you have just made your own jean purse!
