Brooklyn Girl Bonnie Somerville: Talented Actress Making Some Noise

From Singing Her Own Songs to a Singing Canary on Cashmere Mafia: Bonnie Somerville Does it All

Brooklyn girl Bonnie Somerville is about to become a much more recognizable celebrity name via Cashmere Mafia, unless of course, you've already heard of her. If not, then maybe you have heard Somerville without even realizing it. The 'culturally popular' movie
Garden State ends with Somerville singing Winding Road. The lyrics and feel of the song mirror the movie really well. She tells me that, indeed, she did write it, and she can be found on ASCAP. Somerville also covered one of her all time favorite songs from her childhood, Cat Stevens' Father and Son, for a movie she's also starring in Shades of Ray-due out this year.

Besides those sounds Somerville recorded, she's also co-written and performed Not Right and What You Got. Her musical talents don't stop there. Among other musical endeavors, Somerville also sang with the Band From TV, which included Bob Guiney of, among other gigs, ABC's Bachelor fame, Greg Grunberg from NBC's hit show Heroes, the one and only Dr. House aka Hugh Laurie, from the hit show House on FOX, and the drool-causing Jamie Denton from ABC's Desperate Housewives.

Somerville says she's been inspired by all sorts of music, and her first inspiration was, believe it or not, Captain and Tenille. However, her career as an actress is really taking off at present. Somerville is one of four women who play successful NYC executives in the new television series Cashmere Mafia, airing on ABC after Desperate Housewives. Lucy Liu, Miranda Otto, and Frances O'Connor round out the casting leads. The show's plot is, essentially, a group of successful female executives who have been friends since college turn to each other for guidance as they juggle their careers with family in New York City.

Already many are buzzing, saying the show has a good chance of having the staying power necessary to fill the time slot its been given. Following behind Desperate Housewives and picking up some if its audience certainly doesn't hurt, either.
