Whether you are attending your first or your third immigration interview, one thing that each interview will have in common is the need to be there at a certain time. Along with the usual requests and requirements that you will need to be aware of prior to your arrival, United States Immigration and Citizenship Services (USCIS) will also stipulate a time that you will need to arrive for the immigration interview. When you receive the letter, should you arrive on time or whenever it is convenient for you? This article will look at the importance of timing when attending an immigration interview.

Confirmation

Immigration is a serious undertaking. As such, immigrants who expect to receive the benefit(s) that they have applied for must also take timing very seriously once they have heard back from USCIS. In some cases, USCIS will need to receive confirmation that the time mentioned is convenient. If you have prior arrangements that you cannot get out of in order to attend the interview, you should do all you can to let USCIS know this at your earliest convenience so that your time slot can be assigned to someone else and alternative arrangements can be made for another time to attend your immigration interview. If you do not let USCIS know, you will be expected to show up at the time mentioned on the letter. Failure to show up without any warning will not go down well at all and you will risk placing your status in jeopardy.

Right Attitude

Takeaways
  • Confirm your attendance
  • Develop the right attitude and consider the importance of being there on time
  • Even if you are there early, others may have the same interview time as you; don't let it worry you

I need to show all your articles on immigration to my friend Eric and print them for him. I think they will help his lovely Polish bride clinch the final interview for sure! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences so I may find them (I believe the word is "serendipity"!)

We went up to London the night before and stayed in a hotel almost opposite the Embassy. There was no way we planned on missing our appointment.
