One product I use on a daily basis is my Eastsport backpack. It is sold as a 'Back to School' backpack.  It is a very convenient and easy way to carry many things. Its numerous compartments, lightweight material, and durability have not let me down yet. My Eastsport backpack is a necessity to me.  It makes for an excellent school backpack for students of many ages.

I first bought my Eastsport backpack when I first started college upon moving to the Northwest. I was a new student and I noticed that many other students were using backpacks. Very rarely did I see someone carrying a book. Mostly, hands were free to ease the walking. There are many walkers on campuses, too. So, I went to Wal-Mart and checked out the backpacks. My Eastsport backpack seemed to offer the most for the best price.

My Eastsport backpack makes my life so much easier. I do not have to cart around heavy objects with one arm. Nor do I need to strain my back while carrying things. I simply put my needed items in my Eastsport backpack and travel away. There is ample room in my Eastsport backpack for many items. I like that.

One feature my Eastsport backpack has are compartments of various sizes. This makes it easy to store and carry many items. For instance, there is one small compartment for pens and pencils. The same general area finds room for a cell phone. The combined writing utensils and cell phone area is enclosed by a Velcro secured flap. This flap contains an embroidered Eastsport Outdoor Company label. The name flap is very attractive and easy to read. The gold embroidered thread stands out against the navy backpack fabric.

The next larger compartment is a zippered compartment. Here there is room for items that I feel need securing. I put my checkbook, money, personal information in this part of my Eastsport backpack. My handheld calculator also fits well in here.

Behind this compartment is an even larger compartment that is also zippered. This compartment is similar to a purse. It contains credit card compartments, a zippered mesh compartment, and an open pocket. There is plenty of room in this area of my Eastsport backpack.

Takeaways
  • Eastsport backpacks are must-haves for back-to-school students
  • Eastsport backpacks make great gym bags.
  • Eastsport backpacks are waterproof.

I recently bought an Eastsport backpack for my 8 year old son from Walmart. I choose it because it appeared to be durable and it was reasonably priced in comparison to the other backpacks. I was very surprised this week when my son told me that he could no longer take the backpack to school because the zipper for the main compartment had separated leaving the backpack wide open. I told him he could still use the backpack but he insisted that he could not. Then I thought that I could fix the zipper but on closer examination I realize that there was nothing that I could do to repair the back. Even though it shows signs of wear (he has had it since January 2008), I am seriously thinking of taking it back to Walmart. There is no reason to spend money for something that does not last.

I have an Eastsport "cargo backpack". It's ugly, cheaply made, uncomfortable, makes my hands and arms go numb, it doesn't have enough pockets, and the ones it does have are too small. The main compartments are also way too small. The main zippers have also recently started to fail. The side mesh pockets are situated over zippered pockets. Both of them are so small you have choose between using one or the other. However, for an $8-$10 backpack, what do you expect? It's been surprisingly durable for such a cheap backpack. In my experience, backpacks in this price range often self destruct within a year, and always in two. This one has lasted longer. I wish it would rip up so I wouldn't feel guilty about throwing it away. If you can't afford a better backpack and don't mind a small uncomfortable one with straps that make you go numb, this backpack will last a depressingly long time.

Recently bought one of your backpacks at Wal-Mart. It has lived up to its reputation of cheap chinese junk! Have a nice day!

My Eastsport backpack is junk. Sure it has plenty of pockets but after using it for only a week both of the main pockets zippers busted. It is of no use to me now. I have had an Eastsport in the past and it lasted several years..........not this one.
