R. Kelly's Double Up Tour is Coming to a City Near You
Singer/songwriter R. Kelly is dodging the courthouse and is hitting the road on his first major tour in three years. According to his official website, the Double Up tour will stop in 36 cities over a span of nine weeks. Kelly's first concert will take place in Columbus, GA November 14th
and end in Hampton, VA on January 13.
The tour, which is being presented by Rowe Entertainment, will hit most major US cities including Atlanta, GA; Baltimore, MD; Dallas and Houston, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Newark, NJ; New Orleans, LA; Washington, DC and Kelly's hometown of Chicago, IL.
The artist will be performing past fan favorites and tracks from his latest album, Double Up. Kelly, the self-proclaimed Piped Piper of R&B, reached superstar status after leaving the group, Public Announcement and has thus far released eight solo projects and sold over 50 million albums worldwide. His latest album has retained a spot on the Billboard 200 for the last 21 weeks, the highest being number one.
Kelly will not be alone on his tour but will be accompanied by Keyshia Cole, J. Holiday and Ne-Yo, who some consider to be a young R. Kelly in the making because of his dynamic songwriting skills.
Several of his singles have reached the top of the charts such as, Bump N Grind, If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time, You Remind Me of Something, I Believe I Can Fly, Step in the Name of Love, Down Low as well as his current chart-toppers, I'm a Flirt and Same Girl, a duet with fellow R&B artist, Usher.
Kelly has been perceived as one of the greatest songwriters of all times and along with composing and performing his own original songs, he has shared his gift with others and has written numerous Billboard hits for everyone who is anyone from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson to songstresses Toni Braxton and Celine Dion.
