Carrie Underwood Carnival Ride Makes Country Music History

Carrie Underwood has had an incredibly successful music career from the time she won season 4's American Idol.
In fact, her first album Some Hearts, released on November 15, 2005 sold 315,000 copies in its first week. Additionally, it became number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. It also became the biggest first-week album in number of sales of any country artist since the birth of SoundScan in 1991. Some Hearts has been certified sextuple platinum by RIAA and continues to be very popular.
Carrie Underwood made country music history again with the recent release of her second album Carnival Ride. Carnival Ride was released on October 23, 2007. In its first week of sales, Carnival Ride sold 527,101 copies.
The huge number of sales in Carnival Ride's debut week put the album at the number one spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums and at the number one spot for the Billboard 200 chart as well.
Not only did Underwood's Carnival Ride top the charts in CD sales, digital sales of her album are the largest of any country singer during a debut week, with digital sales reaching 44,928.
Underwood also set the record for the most copies of a sophomore album being sold during a debut week in country music history.
In the midst of all the enthusiasm surrounding the release of Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride, Underwood has made several television appearances and plans to make several more in the near future.
She has recently made appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Early Show, Good Morning America, and Live with Regis and Kelly. She also sang the National Anthem at the third game of the World Series.
Carrie Underwood is scheduled to give performances on the Ellen DeGeneres show on November 5, Good Morning America on November 12, and on November 13 on The Late Show with David Letterman.
