Christmas is approaching quickly. There are less than 8 weeks until Santa arrives and you may be searching for something special to give your child while they wait. That is why I love those personalized stories so much. The kids not only enjoy them and get excited about the up and coming holiday, but it also encourages reading. What kid wouldn't want to read a book starring themselves. Here is how you can create a personalized Santa story for your child.

If you are already a writer this won't be a problem. You can search the internet for a theme and then Google some images. Use a program like PageMaker which not only allows you to choose where your text goes, but also allows you to add images. If you are creating a personalized story for your child they are probably under the age of 12. Make sure the amount of text you put on each page is appropriate for the age of your child. A preschooler might only be able to handle 2 sentences while a 2nd grader can handle a paragraph.

If you aren't a writer don't fret. There is a site you can use called NorthPole.com. It doesn't give you the ability to make the story age appropriate so you will have to read the story out loud for the younger children. There are 3 stories to choose from and they are all fun. Your choices include: Elf For a Day, Christmas Eve Clean-up, and North Pole Christmas Party. Just visit the site and click on the button that says "Create your own personalized story book". Then you will have a form to fill out. It's fairly simple and is the information that will personalize the story for your child such as name, favorite toy, town you live in, favorite goody, and best friend's name. When your done filling that out just click create. Print the story and you are all done.

What an exelent idea. I love it! My kids are too old for santa anymore, my my granddaughters are still very young. Also if you are a crafter and work craft shows during the Christmas season, this could be a great money maker at the shows if you have a laptop. Just take your laptop and a printer to the show with you and your in business.

my mom did this for me when I was a kid and for some reason I never thought to do it for my own kids. I wish I had because now they are too old to give a woop.

Great idea! My kids and I put together our own Christmas story book last year. We each made up our own parts and drew pictures for each page. It was a lot of fun.
