There are many different cartoons on television today that are nothing in comparison to the things we used to watch as kids. There are a few good ones that teach while entertaining your children. My favorite station, and the one my television stays tuned to, is the noggin channel. I've listed the top ten shows I let my son watch. Two of the ones listed are not the noggin channel; I think they are on Disney but I'm not really sure.

10. Lazytown. I wasn't sure at first whether I liked this show or not because it is a little strange at first. Then after a couple of times watching it, I've added it to my list. The main point of the show is teaching your kids to eat healthy and exercise. I think those two things are greatly needed in our society right now.

9. The Upside Down Show. Now this one is definitely a little different. All it consists of is two guys, a woman and some puppets. The guys give the kids a pretend remote control and the children get to be in control and help out with the show. It's a wonderful show for teaching imagination and creativity. My son thinks it is hilarious and now we have to pretend we have a remote control at home.

8. Dora the Explorer\Go Diego Go. I listed these two together for the simple fact, in my husband's eyes at least, one is for a girl and the other is for a boy. I was so excited when they came out with Diego because my husband didn't like the fact our son was watching a 'girl' show. These two shows are great for teaching counting, problem solving and basic Spanish. Diego teaches children about different kinds of wild animals while Dora teaches children about sequencing while using a map.

7. The Backyardigans. This is a great show for teaching your kids to use their imagination and introducing them to music. This is one of my favorites because a lot of the songs are really catchy and not near as bad as the Barney type songs. Ugh.

6. Higglytown Heroes. This show teaches kids about all kinds of different jobs people do and how each job is special and plays a part in the functioning of society. Each episode has a different profession and tells all about it.

Nice recommendation. My daughter is 5 years old and she watches most of the show in your list. I like to add Hi-5, its a group of 5 teenagers teachings kids to count, sing, dance and have lots of interesting stories presented in a very modern way. My daughter loves it. How come you did not include Barney? My daughter is not a Barney fan, but it also teaches kids lots of interesting stuff and songs and games. I'm not a fan either and my daughter doesnt want to watch it. When I was young I like SuperBook and Flying House, teaches about Bible stories, I've seen them in videos(here in our contry), I don't know when they were ever shown in the United States.
