For the past 12 months I have been job hunting. I have casually been seeking employment in my spare time, looking for my "job soul mate". Something with benefits, flexible hours and dare I say, NO WEEKENDS! I landed a pretty sweet gig in March of this year photographing newborn babies for the local hospitals, though the job is gratifying and keeps me from becoming a mother of 2 the pay is laughable and the hours are less than substantial.

Merely looking or hunting for a new job isn't enough in the current economic crisis we are in. You must now job raid to become employed. Everyday I check 5 major job sites for new listings, the biggest being Career Builder. A few months ago I could log on and find over 200 new jobs posted within 24 hours. Now the most you will find is 75 postings and less than 10 postings in the city of Cape Coral which boasts a population of over 150,000 people.

Two miles down the road from me is a brand spanking new Super Target. I called the super target which from my extensive retail background brought me to believe that they would need employees (at least 500) especially with snow birds visiting and the holiday season approaching, they aren't hiring, just accepting applications.

Yesterday I saw an ad on Craigslist about a clerical position with all the bennies. I faxed my resume and today the ad was taken down, leading me to believe they received so many applications that they undoubtedly know their prime candidate must have applied.

I recently watched Resident Evil, the first one. You know the part where Michelle Rodriguez's character allows her wounds to bleed over the zombie-like people who were infected with the T Virus? That's the exact visual I get when I think about the job market today. I feel as though everyone is clawing their way to employment victory. So for all those out there who, like me are looking for a new job or are unemployed at this present time don't think finding a new job will be easy, put on your battle gear and helmet because it's brutal out there!

LOL Tashia. You are too much. Finding a job can sometimes be more work than the job itself. Crazy.
