Video Game Review: Kingdom of Loathing, a Text Based Adventure Game

An Awesome Time Killer!

I have recently found yet another way to waste time while at work. Kingdom of Loathing. For anyone not familiar with Kingdom of Loathing allow me to give some insight. I will start by saying that this game is not for children, but if you have a childish sense of humor it helps as
you will encounter many sexual innuendos and references.

Kingdom of Loathing is a free text based adventure game. There is no installation required, only a browser and web connection. This Role Playing Game is a massively multi-player game, although I have not adventured enough to interact with the player vs player system that is in place. The only interaction I have found at this point is chatting with other players. The players that I have come into contact with have been very helpful, giving tips on completing some early quests, giving advice on which clan I should join.

The Character types that you can play as are Turtle Tamer, Seal Clubber, Pastamancer, Sauceror, Disco Bandit, and Accordian Thief. Each character type has their own special abilities and powers. The abilities are based on one of 3 base statistics, Muscle, Mysticality, and Moxie. Once you have your character created you will head out into the not all that big world. Using your daily limit of adventures you will acquire "meat" the currency in Kingdom of Loathing, food and booze, used to gain more adventures beyond the base of 40 per day.

Meat is also used in the item crafting system you use 10 meat to create a meat wad, then use the meat wad to stick items together. As an example early in the game I found a Beer Lens and shortly after I found a second. In what I felt was a stroke of genius at the time, I successfully joined these 2 items with a meat wad to create Beer Goggles. Items can be sold through the inventory menu for a base amount, but it might lead to bigger profits to open a store that other players can visit.
