According to U.S. Central Command, exercises, by the U.S. 5th Fleet, will begin in the Arabian Gulf in November to show the wide range of tasks that the fleet is capable of doing. Tasks such as humanitarian acts and disaster relief will be demonstrated as well.

Going on maneuvers and practicing for possible situations helps military forces to get ready and constantly be prepared for situations that may arise in reality. Since real life situations are usually sudden and unexpected, it is the job of the military to constantly train for any type of event that might come up on a moments notice. These events are not limited to military such as battles, wars, or conflicts, but also include natural disasters and aid to the people of areas that might be affected.

USS Wasp is involved in amphibious, air, and medical exercises in the Arabian Gulf and Commander Task Force 59 is in charge of the operation.

"The scenario is challenging but prepares us for a real-world event," said Cmdr. Jay Chambers, CTF 59 plans officer. "From the table-top discussions, which drew up plans for how our forces will assist, to turning those plans into action, this exercise allowed us to examine the best way to proceed, and to proceed quickly, with providing assistance to any requesting nation."

These practices will help the military to see how well the ships and crew perform during a natural disaster, and they will be able to evaluate and make necessary changes to the process. The training will last for five days, and will show how the fleet does based on its response to a area within 72 hours of it being affected by disaster. There have been many instances where this exercise would have real life meaning such as the tsunami in Indonesia and the volcano eruption in Yemen.

"The purpose of the exercise is to continually improve the 5th Fleet skills in completing complex missions that require capabilities broader than one ship or unit," said Vice Adm. Kevin Cosgriff, Commander, U.S. 5th Fleet.

They will also be evaluating other disasters that would involve the ocean and wildlife more than the public. Such disasters might include oil spills or ships in trouble.

As far as I remember Arabian Gulf was the old name of the Red Sea. I think you mean Persian Gulf. I was really confused when you used Arabian Gulf because I didn't know what USS WASP would do in the Red Sea. However now I think I found your mistake. It is the Persian Gulf not Arabian Gulf.

Dear Editor, 1. I my native German Language these water are still called by everybody - Der Persische Golf, which translates into Eglish "The Persian Gulf" and nothing will ever change this. So, if anyone would say we are going to the "Arabian Gulf" in Germany, they would ask - What, Where? 2. Why would Saeed be surprized about this Arabian Gulf expression, when a Nation calls itself The United States of America, ignoring that there is also Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina and Brazil etc. on the American continent? 3. Does the Federal Government of the so called "United States of America" really think that the rest of the world is as ignorant as the majority of their Tax Payers, who do not realize that their taxes are being used by this Modern Feudal Lord to build one aircraft carrier group after the other. No, we are definately not, we do realize that these monsters are being build to intimidate and attack other countries. 4. Maybe their protection of

Dear Editors, In regards to the article "U.S. 5th Fleet to Start Training in Arabian Gulf" published at "http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/436735/us_5th_fleet_to_start_training_in_arabian.html" may I respectfully emphasize that the geographical location referred to as the "arabian gulf", has been known to the entire civilized world for over 3 millenniums only as the "Persian Gulf" and any other reference to the contrary is inaccurate and under present international laws illegal. The following are links to the United Nations Geographical maps of the world and the Persian Gulf region. Please take time to view them and notice that the UN refers to this body of water as the Persian Gulf. http://www.un.org/Depts/Cartographic/map/profile/iran.pdf http://www.un.org/Depts/dhl/maplib/docs/escwa.pdf http://www.un.org/Depts/Cartographic/map/profile/qatar.pdf This is the only term used by the U.S. Department of State: http://www.state.gov/p/nea/ci/c2422.htm or http:/
