We all have dreams. Those of us who work from home have dreams of successful businesses. Dreams of four day work weeks. Dreams of making more than enough to just get by. Dreams of making enough money from working at home to put our kids through college and retire earlier.

But how do we transform those dreams of success into reality?

Dreams are nice. They will remain dreams until we make them into goals. Goals are well defined. It is how we will achieve these dreams. They take a lot more than just day dreaming about how great it will be.

Look at your dreams. Prioritize them. Which ones are attainable? The one to win the lottery you can put on a back burner. Let us take one for example. You want to write a best seller. That is a dream many people have. How do you take that dream and transform it into a reality?

Sit down and consider everything that you need to do to have that best seller. The first thing is you need to write the book. That is a goal. Put it in writing. I am going to write a book by the end of next year. This is a well-defined goal with an end date. It states you will. Not I will try. Put your goals in positive terms. You have given yourself an attainable deadline. If you had put down I will write a book by the end of next month that would have been virtually impossible. You have given yourself a realistic goal and a realistic time frame that you will accomplish. Three things that are very important in goal setting.

So now you have a great goal. What are you going to do with it? That seems a bit daunting doesn't it? Looking at that huge goal you may get the feeling, I can't do it. That is just way too much.

Break down that goal into little chunks. Smaller goals that are doable for you. I will take a writing class next month. I will write a book outline in the next four weeks. I will write a chapter a week. These are small goals. They make up the bigger goal.

Writing down your goals gives them power. Writing them down makes them real. They transform that which we have been dreaming of into a workable goal.
