Do you know a book lover? Are you tired of trying to guess which new novel would be something they would enjoy? This year forget the novels, and other store bought gifts, and make one of these homemade gifts. These are homemade gifts that any book lover is sure to enjoy.

Homemade Gifts for Book Lovers: Tote Bag

Tote bags are very easy to make. To make this homemade gift, you first need to choose a fabric that the book lover will enjoy. Once you have found the perfect fabric, have the fabric shop cut a long piece about 4 feet long. Also get a piece of thick white fabric, about the same size. The last item you will need is a long nylon strap. The first step is to sew the white fabric to the back of the other fabric. This will help make the bag stronger. Next, fold the fabric in half, with the white fabric on the outside. Sew the two sides of the bag, leaving the top open, but be sure to sew the edges inside the bag for a clean look. Next, cut the nylon strap in half and sew each piece onto the top of the tote to make handles. Be sure to sew the handles on securely to keep the bag from coming apart.

Homemade Gifts for Book Lovers: Book Lover's Diary

This is another easy to make homemade gift. Any book lover will flip over this diary. The first thing you need is a thick journal. You can choose any style you like, but a leather journal will suit anyone's taste. Next make sections in the journal such as Favorite Authors, Favorite Novels, Favorite Quotes, and any other sections you think they would enjoy.

Amy, these are great ideas! I have a friend who is the "book supplier" for all of us anytime we mention we would like to read a book on a certain topic, or a particular author--she's already got it! She willingly lends them out. I think I'm going to use your gift basket idea filled some of your suggestions for her this year for Christmas!

Very good suggestions. A friend did a cross-stitch bookmark for me years ago and I still use it...16 years old I think...one of the greatest gifts I ever recieved.
