Think you may have runners knee? Let me share my experience with you. I'm a young and healthy person who likes running, jogging, marathons, and other outdoor activities. Running and similar activities lets me relax and clear my head. So, I just about went crazy when I developed Runner's Knee.

I almost always run every day, and sometimes I'll compete or run marathons. But then last summer, a terrible pain flared up in my right knee. I almost slapped the doc when he told me that because of my condition, I would have to stop running for a while.

Normally, the joints in your knee glide smoothly against cartilage in the knee. With Runner's Knee, the knee rubs against the joints and can cause some intense pain. That's what I had to put up with, and let me just say that it's no fun at all.

So, armed with a bottle of Vicodin and a book, I tried to make friends with the couch. It drove me mad, mad I say! I wanted to get up and run, but my Runner's Knee wasn't going to let me do that for a while.

Here is what I discovered to keep myself sane. There are only so many things you can purchase from infomercials before you realize that none of them work! You can find a reality TV show for every mundane situation you could possibly imagine. It really is impossible to read the encyclopedia.

Heating pads were in fact sent from God to heal the world. There's still nothing to watch, no matter how many thousands of channels you have. Thank heavens my knee finally got better, and now I can run again. I can only describe those few weeks in my life as 'Hell Week!' Well, time to go for a run! Speak to you soon.

I feel your pain, truly. One of the worst sports we can play as kids is basketball (no cushion floors), especially for the heavier players (200+) that tend to play center or power forward. I love to hoop, but playing too much in my 20s has caused some issues. Now I play flag football, but runner's knee has made me a lineman only. Some tips: 2 Motrin IB (950mg total), and Knee braces (elastic) allow me to continue running. Ibuprofen, Advil, aspirin, Aleve are useless -- for me anyway
